Budget Tour : Adam’s Peak Tour
Adams peak tour is one of the best tours in Sri Lanka. Adam’s Peak None as butterfly mountain in Sinhalese: (Sri Pada or Sri Padaya, Samanala Kanda) is located in the southern reaches of the Central Highlands, the surrounding region is largely forested hills. The region along the mountain is a wildlife reserve, housing many species varying from elephants to leopards, and many endemic species. What makes this mountain special is the hollow in the lofty rock that crowns the summit is said by the Buddhists of Buddha, by the Hindus to be the footstep of Siva, by some Muslims, Christians the footsteps of Adam. the footstep is covered and safely guarded by the priests of a rich monastery halfway up the mountain who maintain a shrine on the summit of the peak. It is an important pilgrimage site, especially for Buddhists. Mountain is most often scaled from December to April, they call it the Siripada season. During other months it is hard to climb the mountain due to very heavy rain, extreme wind, and thick mist. The peak of the Sri Pada season is in April, and the goal is to be on top of the mountain at sunrise when the distinctive shape of the mountain casts a triangular shadow on the surrounding plain and can be seen to move quickly downward as the sun rises. Climbing at night can be a remarkable experience, with the lights of the path leading up and into the stars overhead. There are rest stops along the way where you can get food and drink, or a bed for a few hours. We at Tours Lanka guarantee you this Adams peak tour to be the highlight of your trip.
The pilgrimage season begins on poya day in December and runs until the Vesak festival in May. In season pilgrims and tourists alike make the climb up the countless steps to the top. At other times the summit’s temple can be unused and is often obscured by clouds.
